M 1840 Artillery Officer Saber. Nice condition and a carrier Artillery Officer Saber. Scarce model especially since the regulations of 1851 called for artillery offciers to carry the M 1850 Staff and Field. These were still made in small supply into the CW. Brass guard still has traces of gilt. Leather grip and wire are very good as well. Blade etch is light and blade has staining and has turned gray. Obverse blade etch has Ames address etched on ricasso / foliate - stand of arms / Eagle with EPU ribbon above / foliate. Reverse etch is foliate / US / stand of arms - foliate. Scabbard is steel with no issues and has turned a gray patina with some staining.
