1848 Ames Artillery Officer for New York -Initials - J.G.W. - Preview

A custom made sword for J.G.W. of New York State. Special blade etch and silver plated scabbard.



Manufactured: Sprigfield, Mass.  Maker: N.P. Ames / Cutler  Year: 1848  Model: M1840 type 1 with scabbard spring 
Size: 32 inch blade  Condition:  

N.Y., the date 1848 and initials J.G.W. are etched into the blade along with N.P. Ames / Cutler / Springfield. it is decorated with foliate, arms, a large NY, stand of arms, American Eagle and the Indian Tecumseh. The guard has heavy gilt, leather covered grip with gilt wire. This is a type 1 with the guard recess around the blade to accept the scabbard. There is a back edge spring inside the scabbard.The scabbard is silver plated
