Republic of Texas enlisted Dragoon Saber. Only a handful surviving from the original 280 purchased in 1840.

Size: 34.2 inch blade  Condition: Excellent+ 

These enlisted dragoon sabers were purchased in 1840 and saw heavy use throughout the Mexican war and the civil war. Only a few are known to have survived. They are inspected W.S. (William Smith) The blades are dry needle engraved Texas Dragoons along the blade and N.P. Ames / Cutler / Springfield / 1840 in the ricasso area. The grip is a wood core covered with leather and wrapped with dragoon wire. The scabbard is steel with split carry rings.
