Top Cast Eagle which appears on the quillon of the top and middle sword Top Ames model 1860 cavalry officers sword. The guard is made of brass covered with gold gilt. It has three decorated branches and a decorated pommel cap. The grip is covered in sharkskin with wire wrap. The blade is stamped Ames Mfg. Co. / Chicopee / Mass. It is engraved with US flags, trophies and an American eagle. The scabbard is of iron with brass decorated mounts Middle Ames model 1860 cavalry officers sword. The sword is exactly as the one above with the exception of the blade is etched Ames Mfg. Co. / Chicopee / Mass. The scabbard is of iron and has wide brass mounts Bottom Horstmann cavalry saber with 1840 style hilt, sharkskin grip and 1833 style quill back blade. The blade is engraved with oak leaves, military trophies, figure of Tecumseh, American eagle, tent and US shield in a stand of arms. The blade is marked W. H. Horstmann / & Sons / Philadelphia. The scabbard is of iron with wide plain brass mounts and a specially made wide brass throat to accommodate the quill back blade |
