The beautifully etched blade has a 4 line address within a decorative banner that reads: Palmers / and / Batchelder / Boston. There are acorns, oak leaves, a double lined U.S.N., more acorns and leaves and a double staffed American flag. The obverse has the eagle on the cannon, a fouled anchor with chain in place of rope, crossed flags with a halberd and foliate. The guard and pommel are high relief castings of the regulation pattern. The pommel is two pieces (a seperate cap). The grip is white ray skin with twisted copper wire. The black leather scabbard is back seamed with sheet brass mounts and detailed rope ring mounts ans dolphin drag.
