M 1833 Dragoon Saber - S.C. Contract 1835 -is very Rare.   One of the few Ames dragoon patterns that has a different design pattern.  Most Dragoon sabers have a stepped pommel.  The SC dragoon has a smooth bird's head pommel. These S.D. sabers are never inspected.  It has the normal leather covered grip and dragoon wire wrap.  Blade is bright polished steel and is dry needle etched on the Obverse ricasso: NP Ames / Cutler / Springfield / 1835.  Reverse side has South Carolina in foliate with the date 1835 below.The scabbard is the standard M1833 iron scabbard with no inspector's markings.
