Nashua 1832 Foot Artillery Sword. Rare sword. No Scabbard. A brass scabbard was standard
for this model purchased by the Nashua Militia. Dated blade stamp 1836. Standard 1832 Foot Artillery hilt with cast feathers and US Eagle on the pommel. Blade is etched on both sides. Obverse side has N.P. Ames Springfield with Eagle / Nashua Artillery over a wreath / US Eagle w/ EPU banner and 13 stars above and then a flame patter. Reveres etch is United States 1836 / Urn with foliate / stand of arms with a liberty cap / flame pattern. Total etch is 10.5 inches. This is mentioned as all examples are not identical. This piece is identified. Marked on the brass hilt in the cross guard is the owner's name - H. M. Abbott -. this is stamped on both sides and also scratched on one side. The blade on this sword has evidence of slight, period sharpening. This is a very rare New Hampshire militia artillery sword of the mid 1830's.
